Good news – we have received a much-needed grant of £247,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thank you to all those who play the National Lottery. 

 

We plan to open the site in Spring 2027.  In the meantime, the site is closed (other than on Wednesday 16th September 2026 1200hrs – 1600hrs for Heritage Open Days) whilst we start a programme of repairs and improvements.  These include the reefing stage, sails, brickwork, and landscape improvements around the pond. Improvements will also be made to the historic wildlife pond and surrounding habitat.

There is no public access to our site during the works other than any open day or specialist visit to inspect the works. 

   

Access to the woods remains unaffected. The windmill will be scaffolded and closed. The site will be monitored. Local residents will be kept informed of any significant vehicle movements.

The project expects to grow the volunteer team and provide training. These opportunities will be advertised locally on social media and on our website nearer the anticipated opening time.
