Bursledon Windmill will be open to visitors from 1300hrs to 1530hrs on Tuesday 19 May 2026 as part of the National Mills event programme. The windmill is currently temporarily closed to visitors while its long‑term future is actively being reviewed.
This is a welcome opportunity to drop in to meet the team from charity Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust (HBPT) who are developing plans to create a sustainable future for the mill which was closed in 2024 by Hampshire Cultural Trust due to funding cuts.
Those attending can also register interest in volunteering, meeting volunteers who maintain the site whilst the mill is closed and find out more about what type of skills and support are needed. Volunteer guides also plan to open the mill so visitors can take a quick look at the interior of the mill and learn about the role of the mill in local life. parking is limited on site and whilst the event is free, those attending are asked to register their interest by visiting Eventbrite on the day are by cash only. The mill has steep stairs, which are unlikely to be used, but floors are slightly uneven so sensible footwear is required.
